Box Office Mojo: '' Prometheus is going to top out with about $120m domestic and I don't know how much internationally.
If that $130m budget is to be believed, I would think $400m world wide would have had the studio pushing straight ahead with a sequel no questions asked (plus merchandising on this sort of sci-fi crap is HUGE).
A problem may be Ridley Scott's age. He is 75 this year but is still a director who if he pushes can get a sequel in motion quickly. If he is going to insist on subjecting us to another Blade Runner film, he may be almost 80 by the time photography finishes on Prometheus 2. Senility has clearly set in if he thought Prometheus was satisfying/intelligent/coherent. And attaching a new director may result in development issues.
Problem is that without a sequel Prometheus does not work because then we never see answers to everything this film poses. Which makes Prometheus a waste of time ''
